Between 7:45am and 08:30am departure from your Hotel in Naples or from the closest meeting point (*** see Notes below) to reach Pompeii, the ancient Roman
city which was flooded with lava during the explosion of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

Discover how everything here has remained intact, preserved over time by the lava of Vesuvius and the skill of historians and archeologists who have preserved this splendid UNESCO heritage.
At the end of the Pompeii tour enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant and then continue with an Audio-guided Visit (1h30 minutes) of the second amazing ruins in the Vesuvius area: Herculaneum!
The ancient city of Herculaneum was covered with an impressive mass of mud, ash and other materials from rainwater that dragged vents, penetrating in each opening, then solidified in a compact and hard layer of 15-20 meters. These special circumstances have allowed the preservation of highly perishable materials such as papyrus and the same food, sealed in dried mud. Because of this, the site of Herculaneum has been even more helpful than nearby Pompeii in order to understand the everyday habits of the ancient population living here.
At the end of the tour, drive back to Naples and drop off at your Hotel or arrange a different arrival point in town.
