The western point of Europe Country: Cape St. Vincent. You will have just in front of you the entire Ocean!!

Your tour will begin with a visit to the picturesque hill Village of Alte. A brief stop to do some shopping of local handicrafts and visit the 12th century church; then drive on to the historic town of Silves, famous for its Moorish Castle and the Cathedral, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. The Fabrica do Ingles (cork factory & museum) reminds us of Silves's renown throughout Europe in the past for the production of cork.If you wish, you may visit the castle or the Fabrica do Ingles. Your next stop is Monchique, a town known for its Roman Style Chairs, and then on to Foia whose height(902 metres) affords a fantastic view of the Alentejo and the Atlantic coastline. After lunch at a typical Portuguese restaurant (full 5 courses & drinks), you will head for Cape St. Vincent, where you will stop to admire the view from the most western point of Europe. This explains why many explorers travelling to the Americas, Africa and the Far East left from this area. The tour will continue with a visit to the fishing port and harbour of Sagres, where you may also wish to visit the 14th century navigation school of Henry the Navigator. Finally you shall see the port of Lagos, once active in the slave trade. Its historic quarter takes you back in time, while Ponta da Piedade and its lighthouse open on to a splendid cliff view.
