Ostia Antica presents a unique view of a well-preserved sea-town in Rome, Italy. During the ancient Roman time, this town was regarded as a harbor city and home of opportunities for blue-collar jobs.

At the beginning the colony of Ostia was just a fortified camp, intended to protect Rome from enemies trying to attack the city. With the growth of Rome, the function of Ostia changed and became an important commercial port. Ostia Antica is a large Archaeological Site near the modern suburb of Ostia, which was the site of the ancient port city of Rome, located approximately 19 miles northeast.
This tour is designed to help you discover some of the main features of the daily life styles of ancient Romans. You will see the remains of docks, warehouses, apartments, flats, mansions and shopping arcades.
