Tunis The Best Of

This is the real way to feel how these people live their life so far from our reality. Having this tour it means to put a little piece of this country in your heart.

Visit the incredible site of Punic and Roman ruins at Carthage, including the Tophet, where human sacrifices were offered to the gods. You will see the stunning Thermes D'Antonin, the theatre and the amphitheatre. Carthage was once Rome's most dangerous enemy and bitter rival, reputedly founded by Queen Dido from Phoenicia. Today, the ruins of this settlement remain scattered among the area's more modern construction, including the enormous Roman public baths near the seashore, the five-story amphitheatre where Christians were sacrificed, and the Punic ruins of temples, monuments and columns will be your window on the history of these two great civilizations. Next, visit the Bardo Museum which includes one of the richest collections of Roman mosaics in the world. Housed in the palace which was once the residence of the Beys of Tunis, the Bardo's collection of artefacts also includes statues and jewellery displaying exquisite workmanship, design and variety. The coach will then take you the bustling medina (Old Town) quarter. Disembark your coach to take in the organized chaos of the city - fruit stalls, waterbearers, leather merchants and carpet weavers. View the great Ezzitouna Mosque before a buffet lunch at the Phoenix Restaurant. Finally, you will visit Sidi Bou Said - one of the prettiest villages in Tunisia - famous for its Moorish architecture of white houses with blue shutters covered in bougainvillea. A short walk uphill will bring you to the village that sits proudly at the top of a cliff, commanding stunning views of the Gulf of Tunis. Browse in the shops selling crafts and enjoy a mint tea at one of the cafes, or opt for free time for shopping and walking around before you return to your ship.
