The Brunello wine is especially known for its longevity - consider that you can store a bottle even for 100 years! In the United States there's a tremendous thirst for this flagship wine from Montalcino's area, as the yearly exportation is of roughly 175,000 cases, and has made the Brunello one of the most famous wines in the world, prized and praised by important wine critics, collectors and wine lovers.
Southern from the city of Siena, the Brunello di Montalcino territory offers a perfect and one of a kind microclimate. But the unicity of this wine is also due to a maturation of about 5 years before bottling - which is part of what makes Brunello so precious!
Our Brunello tour will take you to visit two of our favorite wineries which obviously use the same Sangiovese grape that grows in this area. In the smaller of the two wineries, in addition to tasting the Brunello DOCG, you will savor a rich traditional Tuscan lunch with various courses .
By touring two wineries, pretty different in size and wine making philosophy, you will way better comprehend the nuances between innovation and tradition in Brunello wine production.
Together with our expert guide, who during the day will offer advice and suggestions on how to best taste the wines, you will also have the opportunity to visit with your Small Group a typical medieval Tuscan village!
Stroll along the narrow streets lined with stone walls of this little jewel that has arrived practically intact from the Middle Ages to the present day, and inscribed among the areas protected by UNESCO, before heading back to Florence at the end of the tour.
