Discover the real Rome on this great sightseeing tour. After you have seen the Colosseum and the Vatican, take a break from the crowds, escape the traffic and explore the backstreets of the historic center that most tourists don't know exists. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Jewish Ghetto where Roman Jewish have been living in this neighborhood for 22 centuries, giving birth to the only Jewish community to be present always in the same place before the Diaspora.

After being picked up at your hotel with a private vehicle, a Private Guide will take you to discover the ancient Trastevere neighborhood to see the magnificent Synagogue and visit the Ghetto.

Start from Trastevere, one of Rome's most beloved areas by locals and tourists. Admire the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, then walk to Isola Tiberina along the oldest bridge, giving access to the Jewish Ghetto area. You'll stop at a Kosher Bakery to taste the famous Pizza Giudia, and have the chance to meet other Jews, who consider Ghetto as a meeting point. Stroll through the medieval alleys that have survived the restoration of the area and admire the beautiful Turtle Fountain by Giacomo della Porta. Our guide will introduce you to the Synagogue of Rome, built after the unification of Italy in 1870, when Jews were given Italian citizenship (at the end of the tour, you could be able to visit it on your own and according to Synagogue opening times, that change often).

Continue your walk and reach Campo de' Fiori: you will see a street market in one of the most beautiful squares of Rome, but a few centuries ago this was the site of the public executions!
The tour will end in the area of Piazza Navona, the elliptical square, jewel of Baroque art with the Fountain of the Rivers by Bernini. Not far from Navona you will find the Pantheon (get inside for free!) and the church of St. Louis of the French, where three Caravaggio's masterpieces are marvelously preserved.
Ask you driver at disposal, at the end of the tour, to be dropped-off at your hotel or at any other spot in Rome city center.

Please Note: the Synagogue is seen from the outside only.
